Boddingtons B, Theakstons Mild, Wilsons Original . Originally two cottages, the internal layout has not changed since. Entering by way of the splendid half-glazed door with it's two brass rails, the visitor sees an attractive black and white tiled floor bar area with low-ceilinged rooms off, comprising a public bar with pool, a small basic room for darts and an even smaller room with the rare site of bar skittles. Rear lounge, with leather settles, coal burning stove and piano. Original etched windows and wooden benches. The original bell pushes which used to summon service are still in evidence throughout, and still function, although they are often unplugged to avoid the landlady being plagued by the insatiably curious, or late night humorists.

Boddingtons bitter. Lagers: Stella and Carlsberg Export. Normally three guest beers which include (01/03) IPA and Timothy Taylors. Look, too, for Murphys stout and Strongbow cider.
Situated on a quite side street at the top end of Bollington, the Church House occupies a corner site in a row of traditional cottages, close to the open countryside of the Peak District. The Church House is very popular, with both the open plan bar area with its blazing fire in winter, and a smaller back room providing comfortable seating for diners and drinkers alike. It is also one of the few pubs in the area to provide accommodation, meriting three Crowns.
The pub specialises in excellent food. Indeed, the pub has been listed by Egon Ronay and appears in CAMRA's Good Pub Food Guide. Consequently, booking ahead for meals is advisable at peak times, as the Church House is both small and well known in the locality for its varied menu. |

Two regular bitters - Boddingtons and Timothy Taylor Landlord and two or three additional guest cask beers. Awarded Cask Marque status in June 2003. Lagers - Stella Artois, Red Stripe, Carlsberg and Heineken. Strongbow cider, Murphys and Guinness.
The Poachers is a pleasant and very friendly pub with rapidly growing reputation for good quality, fresh home-made food. Formerly known as the Masonic Arms it has been created by merging half a dozen terraced cottages. Occupying a corner site it is solidly built from local stone and blends well with its surroundings. Well known for its window boxes and hanging baskets, the Poachers has won the "Bollington in Bloom" awards three times. It is situated at the very edge of the village, at the foot of Blaze Hill, a hundred yards from the Peak District National Park.
The pub manages to combine the interests of diverse groups in a way which defeats modern designers. At the far end can be found the "Gamekeeper's Restaurant" serving excellent food in an intimate cosy environment. Advance booking is recommended. In the centre, diner and drinkers mix affably around the bar. By the door, the comfortable lounge chairs and open fire provide a warm, relaxing and surprisingly quiet niche where you can stare into the fire while enjoying a pint of real ale. To the rear can be found a large secluded beer garden for those rare summer days and evenings.

The Viceroy is situated at the far end of Bollington just before the Poachers Inn. In addition to excellent Indian food there is the usual range of Indian lagers. The frontage belies the size of the place.

The first room you come to is for ordering take away meals where you can have a drink while waiting.
The next room is for ordering your meals, again while you have a drink, where decorative fish tanks and a working water feature take the eye.
|
|
The main dining area is spacious and decorated to a high standard with relaxing Indian music in the background. Highly recommended.
