Give a Dog a Bad Name
I was amazed today to hear Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's name mentioned today in a discussion about the best 'Foreign player' in the last few years. You might think, hey you're his biggest fan. Well I am. But Eric had a bigger impact.

I was amazed because I thought that it was only me and my brother Martin (I know it it should be My Brother And I but not I'm not a royal and they should all be shot anyway)who think that Ole is a Very Special Player.

To be fair to the caller his main point was Ole's contribution with important goals and a supreme example of professionalism . Can't argue with that.

Enter BIG GOB BILL YOUNG. [I've been listening to this guy since he started as a Newbie for Talk Sports a few week ago and he is proving, what I know about any all journalists (or anyone who thinks they are the font of all knowledge),that they know feck all.

Why do I say that? His first comment was that Ole was a super sub. Why resort to the fecking obvious sound bite from years ago that we all know! He acknowledged Ole's amazing professionalism compared to Fanny Jeffers (no misprint) of Arse but he has clearly not followed the Reds like we and Sir Alex have and seen that Ole is an essential part of the team and has been for many months. In a way Sir Alex has almost apologised-amazing!

Bill Young is clearly struggling with his phone-in; this is clearly evidenced by his quickness on the 'cut them off I can't cope button'. I know the Scots well...my Dad is one and had seven brothers and a sister (there must be a film there!) and they're normally spot on.

There's always a wrong one.

How many games have you seen him play that helped us win the league you tosser.

You know why I'm so confident in what I'm saying. In particular, I was at the the Newcastle and Spurs away games and when you hear complete strangers eulogising-for you Bill that means praising-Ole's skill and effort.

Believe me, if you took a vote with the away fans (not the zombies and aliens that populate OT), they would rather have Ole than Beckham or Giggs in the team from the start.

So Bill Young,

GET STUFFED

This speaks for itself
You know my opinion about Ole from previous weblogs. I'm publishing this article from the Manchester Evening News in full. It speaks for itself and should put an end to all this crap about replacing Beckham and totally ignoring the brilliant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer....

David Who? by Stuart Mathieson

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Ole scores 1, makes 2
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to show there is life after David after David Beckham on Manchester United's right wing. His success in the England captain's place during key wins over Newcastle and Arsenal was enough to leave a question mark over Beckham's Old Trafford future.
And when the 25m transfer to Real Madrid left a vacancy on United's flank to fill, Solskjaer was the obvious choice to fill it.

In the early hours of this morning in Seattle's Seahawk Stadium the Norwegian had a vital hand in two of the Reds' fast-half goals against Celtic and scored one himself to rubber-stamp Sir Alex Ferguson's belief that the 30-year-old now has another string to his bow.

"In the games that mattered last season he was a revelation," said Ferguson. "Newcastle and Arsenal away were the games that really did count for us and he was outstanding. "Tonight his movement and vision was terrific. The pass for Ruud that created Ryan's goal was a really special pass.

When Ole first came to the club he was always treated as a sub and that was down to me because I looked upon him as a sub. "It is always difficult to get players who are really, really great subs so I knew the value of him as a substitute and treated him like that.

"But when I gave him runs in the team he got better and the last two seasons he has got more consistency about his game and more strength about him. That and his experience have been helpful. He has been a first-class professional.

"I suppose in a way I am surprised he's looked so comfortable in that wide position in the sense that we never regarded him as a natural wide player. "When players can score goals the way he can and they have the eye for goal and have wonderful balance and two feet, you say to yourself his position is striker.

"But he has proved as a wide left player and a wide right player that he has got the adaptability. "You are seeing a far more rounded and mature player now. Ole is a very, very young 30 -1 still think he is 23. He could probably play until he is 35 or 36."

Ronaldingo...going...gone!
It worked. My comments from the other day were listened to. Who needs him.

We've got Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He's good for a couple of years yet. 110% dependable, 110% professional and not given enough credit for playing in every position apart from scrum half and still scores goals!

Get Duff by all means. You can see the headlines, 'Blackburn get Duffed'. About time Ryan 'I hate white paint' 'lefty' Giggs had some competition.

Call me cynical but whats the betting Mr Ferguson buys Duff and plays Giggs on the right. Veron? Who?

New Goalkeeper Tim Howard Swears By Jesus - Is He Irish?
Apparently Tim Howard is a devout Christian (it's one way of wasting time) and suffers from Tourettes Syndrome. Some sufferers are heard to swear involuntarily. Maybe he hasn't got this affliction, perhaps its because he keeps saying Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ. Just a thought.

Ronaldinho Saga Goes On - Is he Fifty As Well!
It's been a few days since I've been on because it's been too boring on the footy and Beckham front and toooooo bleeding hot for the son of a Scot, with a bald head (thats me not my Dad, though he's not far off).

This Ronaldinho saga has been going on for that long I've actually joined Saga so I can go on a cheaper holiday with the OAPs.

Brazilians have always been a bit iffy. The weather doesn't suit (over a season) and you can trust them as far as you can throw them...dubious morals, sexuality etc. We shouldn't bother. Stick to British and Scandinavians.

Big Deal or Big Issue
I've been out of it for the last few days (don't ask) but a World Cup started the other week; in Graz, Austria to be precise.

Apparently, they are all homeless people taking part in a competition organised by the 'International Network of Street Papers'.

Thats all I know really, but it made me think (I realise that is dangerous) and I have these unanswered questions;

Find out what they are....

Beckham Spaced Out
Unless my ears deceived me, I heard on the radio the other day that Beckham had said that when he had retired he would like to travel to the moon.

He really would be on his way to being the most famous face in the Universe wouldn't he?

Whats In A Number?
Now we know what number shirt David Beckham is going to wear, 23. 'Twenty three' in English or 'Veinte treis' in Spanish.

I've written a jokey article on the anagrams you can get from these words for number 23. Click here for the full article.
